...Fanning & Associates was established in January 1971 when John Fanning, who had recently moved to
Denver from Des Moines, bought the rep firm Wright & Company, owned by Bill Wright. John hired Bill’s
outside salesman, Duaine Rabourn and the two of them covered the Rocky Mountain region which included: Colorado; Wyoming; Montana; Rapid City, South Dakota; Utah; Idaho; New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; and Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

....Times were tough for several years, but through persistent calls and building relationships with our
customers and factories the business grew. John was able to add salesmen in the Denver office and established
an office in Salt Lake City. In 1980 we dropped New Mexico and the El Paso area from our territory.
Utah and Idaho were relinquished in 1982 leaving us with our current territory.

....Fanning’s addresses have also changed over the years. We started out in a rented house in North Denver,
but as the size of the agency grew so did our need for a larger facility. Our next office/warehouse was located
on Blake Street in downtown Denver. It sat on what is now the first base line in Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies. Fanning has moved 4 more times since the early 1980’s, both adding and downsizing our facility as the business moved from warehousing to just an office.

....In July 1991 we signed a contract with Watts Regulator that put us back in the warehousing business.
At that time we had 2 facilities separated by an alley. The next winter we realized that we would have to make
a change when we shoveled snow in the alley by hand to get our forklift between buildings. In 1992 we began construction of 13,800 sq. ft. building and moved in May 1993. We added a 12,200 sq. ft. addition in 1997
to bring us to our existing facility.

....Duaine retired in 1985 and John retired in 1986. Both have since passed away but we are eternally grateful
for the rock solid foundation that they left us. John passed the reigns of the agency to Fred Miller in 1988.
Fred added Shaun Mulligan and Mike Murphy to the roles of principals of the agency.

...After 18 years of being president, Fred decided to work part time and is now a consulant and advisor to Shaun and Mike, who took over the company in January 2006. .
